With the market playing somewhat spotty during the opening session of the The October Sale, the audience inside the Fasig-Tipton pavilion suddenly came alive when trainer Steve Asmussen went to $300,000 to secure an Elusive Quality colt on behalf of Whispering Oaks Farm.

Consigned as Hip 240 by Lane’s End Farm, agent, the colt named Elusive d’Oro was bred in Kentucky by Godolphin and Asiel Stables out of the stakes-placed Medaglia d’Oro mare Bridgette Bordeaux. Asmussen said that the colt will be sent to Carrol Castille’s Whispering Oaks in Louisiana, where he will join the likes of multiple graded stakes winner She’s a Julie.
